An Airport with lots of history, the Gloucestershire Airport began life in 1931 known as Down Hatherley airfield. Aside from getting great views of aircraft taking off and landing as your flight launches, you will have stunning views of the surrounding countryside and towns.
Why not pop into the Airport restaurant for refreshments before your evening flight, or call in for breakfast after a morning flight – the restaurant has great views of the airfield.
Fly over unsullied steep pastures, with their neat hedges surrounding traditional stone farm buildings, over the beautiful hills and vales of the Stroud Valleys and Gloucestershire. Whilst ballooning in Gloucestershire on a warm summer night it's not difficult to imagine the life and times described in Laurie Lee's most famous novel "Cider with Rosie", looking down over a country landscape where little has changed for decades.
Balloon Flights from Stroud
Take a hot air balloon ride from Stroud and you will see the convergance of five populated valleys (Chalford, Painswick, Nailsworth, Slad and Cam). See the town and it's many surrounding villages nestled into the valley's and hillsides.
When you take a balloon ride you go with the wind, on a recent flight we were lucky enough to fly over Stroud, into the countryside, and landed in Westonbirt Arboretum - a great balloon flight, with fantastic views and a beautiful picturesque landing site too!
